Ever since I saw the press release of the W800i way back in March, I was extremely excited to get my hands on the handset! From the feature list and the overall look of the handset, I built the W800i up in my head quite a bit. I’ve got to say, now having a fair time with the handset and being able to test it thoroughly, I was enormously impressed! The W800i has lived up to all the expectations I placed on it and managed to go further still.

You may think “why does he like the handset so much, when he wrote about several flaws with the handset?” My answer to you is this: every handset has its own problems; you’ll never find one that at least one person doesn’t have an issue with it. Personally, the problems I listed above didn’t really sway my overall experience with the W800i; the positives really outweighed the negatives.

The W800i is a ‘fun’ handset, designed mainly for the younger generation of mobile users who are interested in not only some technology that is going to keep them in contact with friends (and Mum!), but something that they can show off to their friends and that keeps them entertained. The W800i does all of this and more – with the Walkman™ branding audio playback is superb, and there’s also the 2mx auto focus digital camera for shots with friends anywhere you go. Take your music around with you with 512MB of external memory, and a huge 262,144 colour TFT LCD (better than some low-end iPod’s!!)

I would definitely recommend the W800i as a great Christmas (it’s never too early to start shopping for Christmas!) present for a teenager (15-19) or young adult, but even others outside of these groups will find the W800i an exciting handset well worth the price; which is about $750, and dropping.
