Tri-band compatibility (GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz)
The T310 is a tri-band compatible handset, which means it can be used in most GSM network-enabled countries throughout the world. Regions that support the three frequencies include Europe, Africa, Asia-Pacific (900/1800 MHz), and North America (1900 MHz).
256-colour LCD screen
A basic 256-colour screen provides for more than just the traditional black-and-white and 4-level greyscale screens. The T310’s menus and built-in games make full use of this opportunity, even though the number of colours are somewhat lacking when compared to most other phones out on the market (at the time of this review).
32-chord polyphonic ringing tones
Polyphonic ringing tones means goodbye to those boring screeching and whining tones that can get somewhat annoying! The 32-chord polyphonic capability means that up to 32 different instruments or chords can be simultaneously played by the speaker, instead of just the one on a phone with the standard monophonic tones. Should you still like the old tones, the T310 does come with a list of these.
GPRS/CSD data capabilities - IR/data cable connectivity
The T310 comes with both CSD (GSM Data or dial-up) and GPRS data capabilities, which can be utilised through either the built-in WAP browser or via an external data connection to a PC or computing device. A choice of either data cable (sold separately) or infrared communications can be used to link up with the external device.
SMS/EMS/MMS and email messaging capabilities
The T310 offers virtually all the messaging options available to GSM-based mobile phones today - including basic text messaging via SMS, the ability to send simple graphics and audio attachments with text via EMS, and photo-sending using MMS. Access to Internet email services is also possible on the T310, specifically for those accounts that are based on the POP3 and SMTP protocols.
Wallpaper (background) and colour themes support
You can change the look and feel of the T310 by going into the “themes” option under the “fun & games” main menu item. Here, you can change the colours of the menu highlights and the menus themselves, as well as the standby screen background (or wallpaper) image. Should you want another wallpaper instead, you can assign this from the “My Pictures” option.
Sound recorder function
A sound recorder feature allows the recording of personal memos and phone calls. This feature can be activated from the “Fun & Games” menu, or by bringing up the options menu during the call by pressing the OPTIONS key (located below the YES button). All sound recordings are saved to the phone’s memory.
Multi-entry phonebook with picture support
The T310 supports phone book entries with multiple detail entries, which provides greater convenience in today’s day and age. For each entry, you can assign up to three different phone numbers (for example - home, work, and mobile) and an email address (which can be used by the on-board email and MMS messaging features). You can also assign a picture to an individual caller that will appear when he/she calls, and a specific ringing signal too - making unique identification easier than ever!
Basic organiser features
Some very basic PIM features are included on the T310 - including a scheduler, once-only and recurrent alarms, and calculator. A convenient stopwatch feature is also included should you want to time something (or someone).
Mophun gaming system
Something very similar to Java, the Mophun gaming system included on the T310 aims to provide a good level of gaming entertainment (graphics, sounds, etc) which has been specially optimised for mobile phone handsets with low processing capabilities. The T310 comes with several games pre-loaded out of the box, while compatible games and new game levels can be downloaded onto the phone using the built-in WAP browser.
Compatible with CommuniCam camera attachment
Although not included in the box, the T310 is compatible with the CommuniCam camera attachment devices. Once attached, you can snap shots with the T310 where you can save these to your phone and/or send them to family and friends through email or MMS. Compatible CommuniCam models for the T310 include the MCA-20 and MCA-25.
