LG KU990 Viewty - Phone Review The LG KU990 "Viewty"

13 February 2008
Reviewed by David Hall

In Summary  3.68/5.0 (average total of all stars combined)

The Viewty is aimed at filling the void in markets where Apple’s iPhone is not yet available. This is the same as the Prada, but unfortunately it suffered from some serious problems (and a huge price-tag) that left it slugging behind the competition. LG have solved several of these problems with the Viewty, and in terms of network connectivity and imaging, the Viewty is well ahead of the iPhone.

The UI is somewhat sluggish, although much better than the Prada’s. The simple addition of vibration-feedback will make the crossover from physical- to touch-keys much easier to conquer. The Viewty’s 5mpx auto- and manual-focus digital camera takes amazing images and video clips, and places the handset on a pedestal with the Nokia N95 and Sony Ericsson K850i (at least in the Australian market).

Expect to pay around $899 for the Viewty outright, or on a contract with Three. In comparison, the Prada’s original price tag was just under $1,000 – it has since dropped.
