LG G5400 - Future phone

LG G5400

LG G5400

30 January 2004
Written by David Hall

LG Electronics are really making life good with their new GSM handsets. They’ve made a fair few of extremely good quality CDMA handsets, but are now jumping on the GSM bandwagon and are coming up with some great designs and feature packed handsets. The newest GSM clamshell handset to be released is the G5400. Some supported features are polyphonic ring tones, synchronization support, GPRS and WAP 1.2.1, built in Java games, and an internal 65k colour display, along with the external vertically placed monochrome display.

With the standard battery the G5400 weighs 85grams, and has the dimensions of 86 x 46 x 21.8 mm. Some companies are putting their antennas for clamshell design phones internally, but LG have placed it outside in the G5400. The external antenna suits the G5400’s distinguishing silver and blue style, along with the lines and curves. An internal 65 thousand colour LCD display will be a feast for your eyes. Your ears will enjoy the 32 chord polyphonic ring tones, and with support for MMS friends and family can show you where they are with pictures and sounds; you can send them back too!

Heaps of connectivity options are available on the new G5400. You can connect to a computer or other device using Infrared technology, and surf the mobile internet with WAP 1.2.1 and GPRS Class 10. The mobile internet will look perfect and crystal clear on the G5400’s LCD display, with all 65 thousand active colours.

Other handy features included in LG’s newest GSM model is the ability to make conference calls, so you can talk to all of your friends - at the same time! Ring tone and image download from the internal WAP browser will personalize your phone and PIM applications will keep your life organized and on time. Voice features like voice memos and voice dialling will make the G5400 answer to no one but you. T9 predictive text input is also included for ease of messaging.

Pre-installed Java games and downloadable ones are supported on the G5400, making it more than just a piece of technology to make calls with, a piece of technology you can play with too! =)

The G5400 can be synchronized with a PC, but it is not yet known how. Most probably software will be provided by LG, and you will be able to connect with an infrared connection.

You can expect the G5400 on the market in the first half of 2004.
