O2 XDA - Future phone

O2 XDA

15 August 2002
Written by Kinny Cheng

Known also simply as the XDA, this Pocket PC-enabled PDA phone allows for the seamless integration of organiser and communicative applications - removing the need for two different pieces of hardware.

Coming in a silver casing, the XDA has all the standard Pocket PC applications that you’ll find on other Pocket PC-enabled PDAs - including Pocket Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer. Windows Media Player 8 for Pocket PC is also included, allowing you to play back audio files either previously saved or downloaded via CSD or GPRS. Files can be either saved on the XDA itself, or alternatively on an SD or MMC memory card.

Up to 15 hours of Pocket PC usage can be attained from a single charge.

Of course, the XDA can act as a standard mobile phone - offering up to 210 minutes of talk time and 150 hours of standby on a single charge (this will depend on PDA usage as well).

This nifty little gadget is currently available for sale primarily in the UK (distributed by O2), and is also available in Hong Kong as well. The question of whether the XDA will make it over to our shores is something yet to be determined.
